KEVIN MILLER

ELDER

I have been a follower of Jesus Christ for over 39 years. God has blessed me with a wonderful Christian wife, Jean, and we have been married for over 38 years. Jean is my helpmate and a woman of prayer. God blessed us with three sons. Jason, our eldest is a hardworking man who loves his wife, Denise, and is a great father to their beautiful daughter, and our granddaughter, whom we spoil with every chance we get. Our middle son, Matt, lives in Florida and is married to Rachel. Matt just completed his Masters in Theological Studies to become a pastor and is waiting upon the Lord to direct them into full time ministry. Zach, our youngest is currently attending the University of Victoria completing his Masters in Public Health. He is not sure where the Lord is leading him, but he has an interest in assisting the First Nations People of Canada in the area of Public Health.

My relationship to Jesus Christ is one of surrender and hope. I realized at 18 years of age that I needed a Saviour and there was only one person who could forgive me of my sins, and that is Jesus Christ. I don’t know why the Lord chose me out of an unsaved family but I am thankful that he did. I place my hope in Christ and Him alone. I am ever-growing in my dependence upon Jesus Christ through continued sanctification, all to His glory!

I came to know the Lord as my Saviour at Ohsweken Baptist Church. Jean and I married when we were young and moved to Brantford where we have attended a couple of different churches. I have been blessed to teach Sunday school classes for various ages as well as Adult Discipleship classes in different settings. God has also entrusted me to serve as a deacon on multiple occasions. From there, the Lord led us to Harvest Bible Chapel in Oakville for three years, where the Lord called us to serve as part of the core group that would launch Harvest Bible Chapel in Brantford.

My passion for Christ is based on Matthew 28:19-20: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

We are forever thankful that the Lord allowed us to be a part of the core group to assist in planting Harvest Bible Chapel in Brantford. Along with two other couples, and under the guidance of the elders from Harvest Oakville, we met and searched for the Lord’s direction in prayer prior to the formation of a larger core group. So this church from day one has been started with prayer, and prayer continues to be a main pillar for this church today. It is amazing to think that the core group started with six people, and when the church launched, there was around 160 people!

Two verses that have meant so much to me over the years include Psalm 27:10: “For my father and mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me in.” Also, Hebrews 13:5b: “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.” As a follower of Christ, these verses have brought me great comfort and strength. The Lord has brought me through some difficult times, including a near death experience, but I believe that the Lord has always been there right beside me. Praise God for what HE is going to do in our city and surrounding communities.
